Welcome to Chutes. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Chutes platform, including the website at chutes.ai, APIs, SDKs, developer tools, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"), operated by Chutes Global Corp ("Chutes," "we," "our," or "us").
These Terms apply to all users of our services, including API consumers, subscribers, chute deployers, and visitors to our website and applications.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using the Chutes platform and services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
Agreement: These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Chutes Global Corp ("Chutes," "we," "our," or "us").
Updates: We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of our services after changes indicates acceptance of the new terms. We will provide notice of material changes via our website or platform.
Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into agreements.
Service Description
Chutes is a decentralized AI inference infrastructure platform that enables developers to deploy and run AI applications across distributed GPU compute infrastructure. The Platform provides services including but not limited to:
- Orchestration and scheduling of AI inference workloads
- API access to various AI models (text, image, audio, video generation)
- Serverless compute for user-deployed workloads ("chutes")
- Web applications (e.g., chat.chutes.ai)
- Development tools and SDKs
- Usage metering and billing
- Dashboard and analytics
- Documentation and support
Decentralized Infrastructure: Compute resources used by the Platform may be provided by independent third-party node operators ("Node Operators"). Node Operators are independent participants and are not employees, agents, or contractors of Chutes. Chutes does not operate or directly control Node Operator hardware. The Platform may be affected by hardware failures, network outages, node availability, or third-party infrastructure disruptions. Chutes is not responsible for failures caused by independent infrastructure providers.
Availability: We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service. The Platform is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis.
Service Changes: We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our service at any time.
Beta Features: Some features may be provided as beta versions with limited support and warranties.
User Accounts and Registration
To use our services, you must create an account and provide accurate information.
Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials, API keys, and wallet keys.
Account Information: You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
Unauthorized Use: You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
Account Termination: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use our services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms.
Prohibited Uses: You may not use our services to:
- Generate harmful, illegal, or offensive content
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Attempt to harm or disrupt our services or infrastructure
- Engage in fraudulent activities
- Reverse engineer our proprietary systems
- Circumvent rate limits, quotas, or access controls
Content Responsibility: You are solely responsible for all content you generate using our services and for all code you deploy as chutes.
Compliance: You must comply with all applicable laws and third-party terms (including model licenses) when using our services.
Subscription Abuse and Automated Usage
Subscriptions are intended for casual, direct usage and not for use in large-scale automated inference, building production applications, or similar high-volume workloads. Acceptable use includes manual interactions and low-volume API usage. Any use cases that require high concurrency, high query volume, or other highly automated usage must use the PAYGO (pay-as-you-go) option.
Violations of this acceptable use policy for subscriptions may result in account termination.
Multiple Subscriptions: Using multiple subscriptions to circumvent limits, quotas, or enforcement is prohibited and is a bannable offense.
Data Privacy and Content Handling
Your privacy is critically important to us. This section summarizes our data practices — please read our full Privacy Policy for complete details.
API Inference (Public LLMs): When you use our API for inference against public models hosted by Chutes, no content from your requests or responses is logged, stored, or persisted. In standard API mode, our servers may transiently read your request in memory to process it (e.g., extracting the model name for routing, or fetching images for vision models), but this data is never written to any database, log, or persistent storage. In end-to-end encryption (E2E) mode, our servers cannot read your request content at all — it is relayed as an encrypted blob. We collect only request metadata (timestamps, token counts, performance metrics) for billing and infrastructure operations.
Confidential Compute & E2E Encryption: Models running in Trusted
Execution Environments (TEE) with confidential_compute: true provide
hardware-enforced privacy — no one, including Chutes or datacenter operators, can access
your data. Our end-to-end encryption option ensures we cannot decrypt your data even in
theory. See our

Chutes Applications: First-party applications like chat.chutes.ai store user content (e.g., conversation history) because that is a core feature of the application. This content is accessible only to you and can be deleted at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Private & User-Created Chutes: Chutes deployed by third-party users run arbitrary code that we do not control. We cannot guarantee how user-created chutes handle your data. You use third-party chutes at your own discretion and should consult the chute author regarding their data practices.
No Training on Your Data: We do not use your API requests, responses, or application content to train AI models.

Billing and Payments
Our services are provided on a subscription and pay-per-use basis.
Subscription Fees: Subscription fees are charged on the billing cycle selected at time of purchase.
Usage Charges (PAYGO): Pay-as-you-go charges are calculated based on token usage, compute time, or per-request pricing depending on the model and chute type.
Payment Methods: We accept payments via Stripe (cards, bank transfers, and other methods supported by Stripe) and blockchain deposits (Bittensor/TAO). Stripe handles payment processing under their own terms and privacy policy.
Cryptocurrency Payments: Payments made using cryptocurrency are final and non-refundable. You are responsible for ensuring that blockchain transactions are sent to the correct address. Chutes is not responsible for lost, misdirected, or incorrectly addressed transactions.
Stripe Payments and Refunds: Payments processed through Stripe may be refundable in limited circumstances related to subscription billing. Refund decisions are made at the sole discretion of Chutes.
Late Payments: We may suspend services for accounts with insufficient balance.
Price Changes: We may change our pricing with reasonable notice.
Intellectual Property
Our IP: Chutes and our licensors own all rights to our platform, technology, and services.
Your Content: You retain ownership of content you input into our services.
Generated Content: You own content generated by AI models through our service, subject to these terms and any applicable model licenses.
License Grant: You grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide our services. For API inference, this processing is transient — content exists only in memory for the duration of the request and is not stored.
Third-Party IP: You must respect third-party intellectual property rights when using our services, including the license terms of any open-source models.
DMCA: We respond to valid DMCA notices and may terminate repeat infringers.
User-Created Chutes and Serverless Compute
Chutes allows you to deploy and run arbitrary code as serverless compute workloads ("chutes"). By deploying a chute, you agree to the following:
Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the code you deploy, including its compliance with all applicable laws, its data handling practices, and its impact on users who invoke it.
No Guarantee by Chutes: We do not review, audit, or endorse user-created chutes. We provide the compute infrastructure; you provide the code.
Invokers' Risk: Users who invoke third-party chutes do so at their own risk. Chutes (the platform) is not responsible for how user-deployed code handles input data.
Removal: We reserve the right to remove any chute that violates these terms, applicable law, or that we reasonably believe poses a risk to our platform or users.
AI Output Disclaimer
AI models running on the Platform may generate outputs that are inaccurate, misleading, incomplete, offensive, or otherwise unreliable. You are solely responsible for independently verifying all AI-generated outputs before relying on them.
Chutes does not review, monitor, or endorse model outputs. We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, quality, or fitness of AI-generated content for any particular purpose.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Chutes disclaims all warranties including but not limited to:
- Merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Reliability or availability
- Accuracy or completeness of results
Service usage is entirely at your own risk.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chutes Global Corp shall not be liable for any:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Lost profits or loss of data
- Business interruption
- Damages arising from reliance on AI-generated outputs
- Failures caused by independent infrastructure providers or Node Operators
Liability Cap: The total aggregate liability of Chutes arising out of or related to the Platform shall not exceed the greater of: (a) $10,000 USD, or (b) the total fees paid by you to Chutes during the thirty (30) days immediately preceding the claim.
Force Majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our control, including natural disasters, infrastructure outages, labor disputes, and regulatory actions.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chutes Global Corp and its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Platform
- Code, models, or datasets you deploy as chutes
- Content you generate or submit, including prompts and inputs
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property and model license terms
Termination
Termination by You: You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
Termination by Us: We may terminate or suspend your account for violations of these terms, non-payment, or at our discretion with reasonable notice.
Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your access to services will cease. Any remaining account balance may be forfeited unless required by law to be refunded. Data associated with your account will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Survival: Provisions relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination.
Governing Law and Disputes
Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of Nevis, Saint Kitts and Nevis, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Arbitration: Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration conducted under internationally recognized arbitration rules. You agree that disputes will be resolved individually and not through class actions.
Class Action Waiver: You waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits against Chutes.
Injunctive Relief: We may seek injunctive relief for violations of these terms that could cause irreparable harm.
Severability: If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
